Camp Cost: $50
-Summer Band Camp (July 10th-14th from 9am-12pm): Summer Band Camp is held every year at HMS! For the rising 6th graders and beginners, it gives them a jump start on their instrument! It’s a lot of fun and it gets them ready for the fall! They will receive specialized instruction by some of the best musicians in the Birmingham area. 7th and 8th grade band students get an opportunity to have fun with their band friends and perform a concert in 4 days!!! The cost for the camp will be $50 which includes instruction and a band t-shirt. We highly recommend them to come if they are able to so they can get a faster start before school starts. -Instrument rental companies: once we know what your child will be playing, please contact one of the instrument companies we use to get your instrument. When you talk to them, let them know your child will be starting in the Homewood Middle School Band and what instrument they will be playing. The main companies are: Gadsden Music, Arts Music, and Bailey Brothers. They will instruct you on what to do next. They can deliver your child's instrument to the first day of band camp on July 10th. We would prefer your child to wait to get the instrument until then so they can learn how to use them properly.
-Band Directors Contact Information: The way we have it structured at HMS, you have the ability to contact either myself or Ms. Owens through the hms-band email. Even though I am the Head Director, Ms. Owens is the primary 6th Grade Band Director. Our direct email addresses are below:

-Ask Your Child to Bring a Friend to Join Band: We hope that your child had a great time trying out all the band instruments. We know that they may know some of their friends who didn't come and that they may want to join the band. They still can! If your child's friend is able to attend Summer Band Camp, please have them come or they can get their schedule changed to join the band and we will test them the first week of school!
-If Your Child Isn't Registered for Band Yet: Don't worry about that part. We will make sure your child is registered for the band! That's an easy question!!!
